Black History Photography Exhibition 2018
The black culture has evolved musically, socially and politically in the last two decades in Canada. Carlos Ferguson’s photography has captured some of the faces of that evolution in Ontario.
This photo documentary work, part of the AfroCanadaViews which interviewed and documented the views of African Canadians (whose works have positively impacted Canadian society) has added another voice to that definition.
Engaging both the traditional photography and digital imaging as tolls, he has captured part of the spirit of an evolving, vibrant black culture in Ontario.

Ingrid Schienke
Ingrid Schienke was born in Montreal, Quebec in 1960 and move to Ontario, along with her family, in 1968. Her interest in art developed at an early age and by the time she finished secondary school, spent much of her time completing commissions from fellow classmates and friends. Upon graduation, Ingrid enrolled in the Illustration program at Sheridan College where she studied printmaking, Painting and Design.
Following college, she began a career as a freelance Illustrator and mural artist. Years later, she would enroll at the University of Toronto’s Art History program to continue her studies in 19th and 20th Century Art History.
Ingrid has been involved in the art and framing industry for over 30 years with 20 of those years running her own successful gallery. She has worked closely with interior designers and architects, sourcing artwork for their projects, whether corporate or residential. In 2010, she closed the gallery and has since devoted much of her time to her painting and has participated in several group shows. Ingrid’s original paintings and mixed media collages are inspired by the history and romance of the past while incorporating the rich textures and colours of the present. Her current style fuses her deep love of traditional painting with an equal passion for the vibrancy of modern life.

George Griffith
Grenada has a remarkable history, as a former colony of Britain, as member of a failed West Indies Federation, as an Independent country, and venue of the well-known revolution/coup d état in March 1979.

In this book, Griffith recreates the Grenadian history and politics in the regimes of the charismatic political leader, Gairy, who dominated the local and international politics of the islands of Grenada, Carriacou, and Petite Martinique, during the periods of British colonialism, the West Indies Federation, regionalism, independence from Britain, and the Grenada Revolution of March 1979

Ian Grant
Ian Grant has a collection of naturalistic photographs, taken in some of the world’s most spectacular locales. Grenadian born, he has lived in Toronto for many years and from this vantage point he had the privilege of travelling to and capturing Brazil, St.Lucia, St. Kitts Grenada, Cuba, Nevis, Jamaica, grand Cayman, Cozumel, Honolulu, Aruba,Yugoslavia, Canada, Florida, Bahamas, Barbados, Trinidad and Tobago, Mexico and St. Martin.
As a self thought photographer he enjoys liberating these unbelievably picturesque scenes, the colors, the moments, the angles that are only commonplace in the cool heat of his imagination.
Much of Grant's audience so far, has found that his warm relaxed outdoor scenes and lazy distant horizons, reminds them of the paradise in their secretly sculpted dreams.
Some of his work was entered into International Photo Competition, in which one "Beach Blaster" won 2nd in the Caribbean Beat Photo competition 2000. he also showcased his work in many galleries and art auctions in Canada.
This collection of photographs represents a small portion of the beautiful images he has composed over the years.
