Images Art & Culture

Carlos Ferguson Photography  Photo Exhibition

Featuring works by photographers Ian Grant and Carlos Ferguson

Defining a culture through imagery and art in photography is done by recording and creating a diverse range of human activities and the products of these activities.  Photographers Ian Grant and Carlos Ferguson used their cameras to define "a developing culture" from the Caribbean to the Americas, engaging both traditional photography and new digital layered imagery to create a space for their art within their culture.

Carlos Ferguson
Carlos Ferguson studied Photographic Techniques at Humber College, and Photography and Imaging at Georgian College. Over the last decade, Carlos has produced several solo exhibits and has been included in various shows in the Greater Toronto Area. Most notable, has been 'Landscape 4 Views' hosted by Toronto's  J.D. Carrier Gallery.

In 2005 and 2006 in addition to being part of the Contact Photography Exhibition, Ferguson has photographed many of their top events as part of their documentation process.

Today, Carlos continues his photo documentary work as part of the AfroCanadaViews team which interviews, reviews, and documents the views of African Canadians whose work has positively impacted Canadian Society.

Ian Grant
Ian Grant has a collection of naturalistic photographs, taken in some of the worlds most spectacular locales. Grenadian born, he has lived in Toronto for many years and from this vantage point he had the privilege of
travelling to and capturing Brazil, St.Lucia, St. Kitts Grenada, Cuba, Nevis, Jamaica,grand Cayman, Cozumel, Honolulu, Aruba,Yugoslavia, Canada, Florida, Bahamas, Barbados, Trinidad and Tobago, Mexico and St. Martin.

As a self thought photographer he enjoys liberating these unbelievably picturesque scenes. the colors, the moments, the angles that are only commonplace in the cool heat of his imagination.

Much of Grant's audience so far, has found that his warm relaxed outdoor scenes and lazy distant horizons, reminds them of the paradise in their secretly sculpted dreams.

Some of his work was entered into International Photo Competition, in which one "Beach Blaster" won 2nd in the Caribbean Beat Photo competition 2000. he also showcased his work in many galleries and art auctions in Canada.

This collection of photographs represent a small portion of the beautiful images he has composed over the years.

Galleria 814

Galleria 814 exhibits the work of emerging and established artists through solo and group shows . We exhibit both contemporary and traditional art in a variety of mediums, including photography, painting, and sculpture. The gallery is pleased to connect artists--who represent a range of artistic styles--with clients interested in commissioned portraiture. As well, our gallery offers the use of its space to non-profit organizations seeking to raise funds through the sale of art.
The gallery is quickly becoming an integral part of the burgeoning St. Clair West artistic community. During the time when St. Clair was being rejuvenated with the new streetcar line, Galleria 814 was undergoing its own evolution. The interior of Galleria 814 was modernized and updated while preserving many architectural heritage features, such as its leaded windows and tin ceiling. Galleria 814 has a supportive relationship with the Wychwood Barn Artist Community, The Academy of Realist Art, and Adina Photo.
